Yes, we are at the point where everything needs to be marketed as AI enhanced, supported or enabled. If it’s not, then it’s crap! Of course, a sideways homage to All Things Scottish, the SNL skits with Mike Myers as the lead Scotsman.
This is certainly reminiscent of the Dot Com era where everything transformed from “Brand” to “Brand.Com” overnight. This was to show being forward thinking, in-tune with technology and also played into market position and potential valuation of brands and companies in peoples’ minds.
Countless tools that people have been using with perviously hidden AI embedded in the logic, have now surfaced as proudly AI-Powered or AI-Driven or AI-Enabled. AI has come out of the closet because it’s now extremely profitable to have AI associated with your product or brand in some way. A quick search using a (probably) AI powered tool reveals some of these new descriptors:
- AI-Powered Site Search
- AI-Powered Marketing Solutions
- AI-Driven Decision Making
- AI-Powered Music Generator
- AI-Powered Enterprise
- AI-Driven Software Development
- AI-Powered Research Tool
- AI-Driven Identity Search
- AI-Powered Writing Tool
- AI-Enabled Disinformation
- AI-Powered Audio Recording
- AI-Enabled Compliance
- AI-Enabled “Final” Beatles Song (according to Sir Paul McCartney)
Of Course, I can make this a very long post by just continuing the list!
The point is really to understand the difference between value and hype. When AI is a part of everything, AI as a descriptor will no longer be needed or valued, because it will just be assumed. Until then, the hype will continue to grow and discerning the true value equation associated with AI will require real due diligence, research and maybe some AI assistance.
