The 101 Hotel in Reykjavik advertises itself as a sleek boutique hotel set in a former office block on a busy corner of downtown. It was a perfect location for three days of sightseeing in and around Reykjavik and was within walking distance of several prominent must-do sights and also close to many restaurants, bars and shops.
We had a great break at The Inn at Langley on Whidbey Island. Even though the restaurant and spa were both closed as a result of Covid impact, the stay was wonderful and the location served as a great base camp for exploring all of Whidbey Island.
We chartered a whale watching excursion with Maya's Legacy Whale Watch and were delighted with the trip. Our experience with Captain Jeff and Guide and Naturalist April made the trip both informative and special due to their enthusiasm and knowledge of everything related to the area. We were treated to sightings of a gray whale, bald eagles, steller sea lions, as well as a sea otter which is apparently less common in the San Juan Islands.

We enjoyed a spectacular trip to South Africa in 2011. We visited Johannesburg, taking in city and urban sights, enjoyed a few diversions with hot air balloons, lions and elephants, and then spent some focused time at Sabi Sands Game preserve enjoying wildlife sightings and truly wonderful hospitality.
