It is difficult to capture the expanse and beauty of this Washington State Park. Deception Pass State Park is located between Anacortes and the northern tip of Whidbey Island. From a practical perspective, if driving, Whidbey Island can only be reached by ferries in several locations, or by crossing the Deception Pass Bridge.

The area has hiking trails, campgrounds, beaches, plenty of wildlife, and, of course, the bridge itself. There is a walkway on both sides across the entire span of the bridge, and given the way it is built, affords an almost acrophobic view in all directions. It was windy and very blustery on the day we visited, making the walk across the bridge both exciting and rewarding.
