One online definition for hybrid work states: Hybrid work is a flexible work model that supports a blend of in-office, remote, and on-the-go workers. It offers employees the autonomy to choose to work wherever and however they are most productive.
I do believe that, over time, the definition of hybrid work will either change completely or at least evolve to include aspects of human and AI collaboration. Since many jobs and roles in today’s work environment are supported by AI enabled tools and capabilities, it is inevitable (if not already here) that AI collaboration will become the norm.
Today, when someone works with an AI enabled tool to render a drawing more effectively or to fix grammar or to mine data, they may not feel that they are collaborating with the AI as much as using an AI capability.
A logical evolutionary step then will be to acknowledge the collaboration required in new roles between people and AI and in so doing define new working roles with tighter collaboration, perhaps leading to hybrid roles, not just hybrid work.
