Anyone interested in getting up way before sunrise? Especially on vacation? Well, there is no way around it if you want to have a spectacular dawn balloon ride outside Johannesburg. We probably awoke (yawn!) at around 3AM in order to get ready and then be driven for about an hour to the hot air balloon site. This was worth every effort! The experience is serene and exhilarating at the same time, and the sights and sounds will be in our memories forever. It is especially satisfying because, not only are you hot air ballooning, you also see a wide variety of African wildlife below, not to mention seeing the sunrise itself.
Having walked with lions, it was fitting to do the same with elephants. Visiting Glen Afric Lodge was the perfect way to do this and experience elephants in a more natural setting and learn about them from an experienced guide.
After an incredible day, we had a similarly incredible dinner at Pigalle in Johannesburg. Service, food and outside views were an excellent way to cap our Johannesburg stay.
