We had the pleasure of sailing out of Seattle's Pier 66 in August 2021 onboard the beautiful Celebrity Cruise Millennium. Based on my new experience, comparing the Immersive Van Gogh Experience to a "traditional" museum visit is not appropriate. While a museum visit may give you the opportunity to experience the original work of art by a true master of their craft, the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit allows you to be absorbed into the environment that led to the artist's creations.
Where I could, I converted to and use digital music in a FLAC format. FLAC is a Free Lossless Audio Codec. There are other options available, but FLAC is non-proprietary option. Of course, technology keeps moving forward and there are continually evolving options, so the best choice yesterday may not be the best tomorrow.
An absolute favorite of ours, Duke's Seafood has 7 locations around the Puget Sound, with our go-to restaurant located on the Tacoma waterfront on Ruston Way. This location has great patio seating in season and indoor tables and booths most with wonderful views over the Tacoma waterfront.
This time of year is Florida Stone Crab Season. The season has generally run from mid-October to mid-May every year. In 2021, the season officially runs from October 15, 2021 to May 1, 2022, a slightly shortened season. The two weeks shaved off at the end of the May is meant to protect the overall stone crab population and to ensure ongoing viability of the industry. As an additional note that shouldn't impact the consumer, the minimum claw size limit was also slightly increased.
Sailing by Point Defiance in the South Puget Sound will usually yield a view of masses of harbor seals. This is especially true as the evening gets near and the seals huddle together on the beach for the night. The waters around Point Defiance create significant tidal movement and are good feeding environment for the seals, making for abundant opportunities for sightings.
It is not at all unusual to see bald eagles throughout Puget Sound, but once in a while, you get a particularly nice sighting. This was in a neighborhood tree when the sun was just right for a beautiful image. Enjoy.
The album was apparently pulled together through remote sessions - a sign of the Covid times, but also a sign of the power of technology and the ability to create collaborative success across the miles. The current band members are Ian Paice, Steven Morse, Ian Gillan, Donald Airey and Roger Glover.
Price Sculpture Forest is a wonderful art exhibit set outside in a walkable forested area outside of Coupeville on Whidbey Island. The Sculpture Forest has two separate but linked walking trails, one is very flat and accessible, with the second being slightly more hilly and uneven.
It is difficult to capture the expanse and beauty of this Washington State Park. Deception Pass State Park is located between Anacortes and the northern tip of Whidbey Island. From a practical perspective, if driving, Whidbey Island can only be reached by ferries in several locations, or by crossing the Deception Pass Bridge.
